New CAS Cricket perpetual trophy
Tuesday, 18 March 2025

The immense contribution of Bruce Wood OAM (OKG74) to CAS Cricket has been recognised with a new perpetual trophy named in his honour - the CAS Bruce Wood T20 Cup.

Bruce has been a CAS 1st XI cricket umpire since 2009 and he has coordinated the CAS Umpires' Panel since season 2016-17. He has umpired 135 CAS 1st XI Archer Shield (2-day and 1-day) competition matches; 31 CAS competition T20 matches (including 7 Finals); 23 CAS representative matches; and 128 other trial matches / school holiday carnivals / fixtures against touring teams, etc. involving CAS schools (total - 317 matches).

The CAS 1st XI T20 competition has been played since 2014, however until 2025, without a perpetual trophy. The T20 Final for 2024-25 was held on 5 February at Queens Park, where Barker defeated Waverley in a hard-fought contest. The CAS General Convener, Mark Bos, conducted the post-match presentations and unveiled a new CAS T20 premiership trophy bearing Bruce Wood's name, in recognition of his significant contribution to CAS cricket.

Bruce was further honoured when Cricket NSW presented him with a Community Distinguished Service Award (see Cricket NSW website), and images below (supplied).
