Legends of Knox Rugby Club spanning 35+ years will once again unite on the hallowed turf of Knox 1 playing for the Lachlan Robertson Cup. Together Brothers IV Brothers and the Knox Old Boys Rugby Club have created a community founded on mateship and the belief that our best lives are lived through shared experiences, a strong sense of connection and purposeful endeavour. Hear Bryn Robertson (OKG95) describe what it means to be part of the community in this video In 2012, a terminal cancer diagnosis to Lachie was the catalyst for the four Robertson brothers uniting and taking to the rugby field together for the first and only time. What became a "Legends" charity match against Mosman drew in over 50 former Knox Old Boys Rugby players, who through their participation and support raised more than $100k for the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, a world class integrated cancer hospital in its infancy that depended heavily on funds raised through charitable contributions. In 2013, Lachie sadly lost his life to esophageal cancer, aged 33. The Robertson Brothers resolved to ensure Lachie's spirit lived on, determined that his courage and love of life would become the inspiration behind uniting a community of "Brothers" that would make a meaningful contribution towards the fight against cancer. Brothers IV Brothers has raised over $2m in partnership with the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse in Sydney. All funds raised by BrothersIVBrothers are directed towards the provision of critical infrastructure, world class research and alleviating patient hardship. Brothers IV Brothers is a community of hope that improves the quality of life for cancer patients in loving memory of Lachlan Robertson (OKG96), Tim Cussell (OKG00) and James Nisbett (OKG98). In the Rugby Club's 65th season, this is a fitting way to close out a memorable season, which saw the Club win the 3rd Division Club Championship. So come and support the Legends as they take on the younger guns in a game for the ages, on a special day in the Knox diary, Gala Day, from 3pm. |
