Chase Burch, a graduate from the Pathways for Elite Athletes at Knox (PEAK) Program, delivered a powerful and genuine testimonial to high-performing student-athletes from Years 7 and 8 last week. Chase shared his unique journey as a student-athlete with a disability, explaining how the PEAK Program helped him. While a senior student at Knox, Chase played wheelchair tennis professionally, reaching an international rank of 14th. He spoke about how the high-performance skills and habits he developed through PEAK supported him in overcoming the mental health challenges he faced, despite his athletic success. These skills enabled him to excel on the tennis court, in school, and now beyond high school, where he is pursuing a degree in media and marketing and running his own social media content creation business. One of Chase's key messages was the importance of not comparing yourself to others, only to who you were yesterday. Furthermore, Chase highlighted the immense value of the relationships he developed, and the support he received from his PEAK mentor over the years. He encouraged the students to make the most of the resources offered (presentations, workshops, activities, and mentorship) as the habits developed through PEAK have been invaluable to him in sports, academics, and beyond. |
