John Southam Memorial

Family and close friends of John Southam (OKG51) attented a dedication service for John's memorial, which was unveiled at Curagul Field on 13 May. 

After attending the Knox Centenary Cricket Breakfast in February 2024, John Southam expressed a wish for a for a tree to be planted at the School's cricket field. After his death, at age 90 in July 2024, John's sons Andrew (OKG79) and Rob (OKG85) liaised with the OKGA to organise for the planting of a magnolia tree with a memorial plaque. 

The School's Senior Chaplain, Rose Maclarty, officiated the dedication service and Rob Southam spoke on behalf of John's family. 

John, who captained the Knox 1st XI in 1950 and 1951, remained friends for life with his team mates Richard Griffin AM (OKG51) and John Laurie (OKG52), pictured below.
