Cameron Spencer (OKG96) has been awarded this year’s Walkley for Sport Photography for a portfolio of images he submitted to the 67th Walkley Awards titled, “Sport is Back!” The Walkley Awards celebrate and support excellence in Australian journalism, with honours presented across 30 different categories.

Included in his portfolio of images, taken between September 2021 and August 2022 in his role as Chief Photographer for Getty Images, was a photo of Sydney Swans’ legend, Lance “Buddy” Franklin, celebrating his 1000th goal in the AFL.

On receiving the Award, Cameron said, “I love my job and am truly humbled with the recognition, and am grateful for the endless opportunities and experiences I have had.”

OKGA members who attended the Thistle Sports Lunch in April of this year were lucky to hear first hand from Cameron when he spoke about his sporting and Olympics photography experiences.  Cameron also kindly donated a photo to be sold at auction on the day to raise funds for the Old Boys for Old Boys Program.
