OKGA Honouring Service
Friday, 10 November 2023
Earlier today, all Knox Senior School students and the incoming Year 7 students for 2024 marked 11 November with a traditional Remembrance Day Commemoration and the OKGA Honouring Service.

Following the Ceremony, five Old Boys were honoured for their service in Australia's defence forces: John Donald Mackenzie (OKG34), Victor William Colwell (OKG39), Ernest Gregory Sherman (OKG40), Peter Wardlaw Davies (OKG39) and John Layman O'Donnell (OKG39).

Colin Mackenzie (OKG07) presented the OKGA J D Mackenzie Ceremonial Sword in memory of his grandfather, and Peter Sherman (OKG69) presented the OKGA E G ShermanCeremonial Sword in memory of his father, while Grahame Pratt (OKG77), OKGA Vice-President, presented the other gifts on behalf of the Colwell, Davies and O'Donnell families.

OKGA President Rob Johnson laid a wreath in memory of thosewho served, and read out the citations of those honoured.

It is especially meaningful for the OKGA to make the presentation of these gifts, and bear witness to the honouring of Old Boys past and present in front of the entire Senior School.

After the Service, the Old Boys present joined the recipients of the gifts (CUOs and Pipe Band Drummers), as well as the SUO, Pipe Major and School Captain at morning tea in the gardens of Woodcourt House.
